Hurricane Harvey: Incident Created

Harvey has now intensified into a Category 1 Hurricane and is projected to strengthen to a Category 3 before making landfall somewhere along the Texas Coast. This storm promises to bring large amounts of rain and storm surge along with strong winds. There is a possibility of an extended rain event as the storm lingers inland over South Central Texas. TXWARN is preparing for requests in conjunction with the storm.

NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE PREPARED.

Utilities in the storm's path (even those inland who may suffer from Tropical Storm amounts of rain) should have already activated their disaster preparedness plans. We advise you to review your membership information with TXWARN and, should your utility not be in harm's way, assess what resources you may have to offer impacted utilities.

ASSISTANCE REQUESTED: Volunteers for Pre-deployment

The Public Works Response Team (stationed at the State Operations Center) is trying to assemble at least 4 teams of qualified operators with an understanding of water/wastewater utilities. These teams will "pre-deploy" to the Coast to provide assessment of the storm's effects on utilities through landfall anf the immediate aftermath and relay that information back to the SOC in Austin. Any volunteers willing to assist the PWRT should contact Ronnie Bates directly at 214-289-1936 or pwrt@soc.texas.gov for further information.
